Program Objectives

The Associate of Applied Science in Project Management is designed to develop the practical, analytical, technological, leadership, and professional competencies required to support project and program delivery across different industries. Students develop competence in project initiation, scope, scheduling, budgeting, stakeholder management, risk, quality, procurement, contracts, Agile delivery, project controls, digital project systems, analytics, governance, and project assurance. The program also develops financial, commercial, organizational-change, leadership, and portfolio-management skills required to support effective project decision-making. Through project workshops, digital systems, structured project datasets, simulations, and integrated capstone experiences, students apply project-management concepts to realistic project environments. Graduates are prepared for entry-level and junior-level project management, project coordination, PMO, project controls, implementation, scheduling, reporting, and related professional roles, as well as continued professional development and further education.

They will use professional project-management software, scheduling systems, collaborative platforms, spreadsheets, dashboards, and reporting tools to monitor project schedules, costs, resources, risks, issues, and performance against approved baselines. Graduates will apply project controls, earned-value analysis, variance analysis, forecasting, corrective action, financial analysis, procurement, vendor management, leadership, negotiation, organizational change, and program and portfolio management principles. They will prepare professional project dashboards, management reports, forecasts, executive summaries, and decision-support recommendations while applying ethical and accountable practices and completing an integrated capstone demonstrating strategic, operational, financial, analytical, and digital project-management competence.

Project Foundations & Initiation

Students will learn project, program, and portfolio management principles, project lifecycle phases and methodologies, project governance, organizational contexts, project selection, business cases, project charters, project objectives, and stakeholder identification and management.

Scope, Planning, Scheduling & Cost Management

Students will develop practical knowledge of project scope and requirements, work breakdown structures, project activities and deliverables, scheduling, resource planning, project budgets, cost management, and procurement requirements.

Agile & Digital Project Management

Students will learn Agile values and principles, Scrum roles, events and artifacts, product backlogs, user stories, tasks, sprint and iteration planning, digital scheduling, project baselines, collaborative project boards, task tracking, digital dashboards, and status reporting.

Risk, Quality & Governance

Students will learn risk identification, analysis, and response planning, as well as the use of risk and issue registers. The program also covers quality requirements, standards and controls, change control, project governance, project monitoring, and integrated project administration.

Procurement, Contracts & Vendor Management

Students will develop knowledge of project procurement, sourcing, vendor selection, contract structures, commercial documentation, contract administration, supplier performance, procurement risk, and contract closeout.

Students will develop skills in project leadership, team coordination, negotiation, conflict management, stakeholder management, and organizational change. They will also examine strategic change, stakeholder readiness, benefits identification, and benefits realization.

Project Controls & Performance

Students will learn digital scheduling, dependencies, constraints, critical path and float, schedule and cost baselines, planned versus actual analysis, variance analysis, earned-value concepts, forecasting, corrective action, and project-controls reporting.

Project Analytics & Portfolio Reporting

Students will learn how to work with project datasets and prepare data for analysis. The program covers schedule, cost, resource, risk, and quality analytics, key performance indicators, variance, trend and exception analysis, charts, dashboards, reports, and multi-project and portfolio reporting.

They will also develop practical skills in financial modeling, payback and net present value analysis, make-or-buy analysis, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis.

Integrated Project Management Practice

Students apply project-management software, spreadsheets, collaborative platforms, schedules, dashboards, risk and issue registers, digital documentation systems, project-control datasets, and professional reporting tools to plan, control, and deliver integrated projects.
