Program Overview
The Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Management prepares students with the academic knowledge, technical skills, and professional competencies required to manage healthcare information throughout its entire lifecycle. Students develop technical competencies in electronic health records, health data standards, medical coding, information governance, healthcare law, privacy, confidentiality, and information security.
Semester 3 — Healthcare Data Management & Analytics
Students strengthen their knowledge of healthcare information systems, healthcare databases, interoperability, data quality management, healthcare analytics, clinical documentation improvement, revenue cycle operations, and medical billing.
Semester 4 — Compliance, Professional Practice & Capstone
Students complete advanced studies in compliance, healthcare risk management, emerging healthcare technologies, artificial intelligence, professional practice experience, and a comprehensive Health Information Management capstone project.
